Drain, what a pain

As I have often been talking about the importance of a good quality of life, there can be nothing more basic for residents living close to big drains in West Delhi than to have these eye-sores covered. In fact, my concept on covering stinking drains – breeding grounds for mosquitoes – extends beyond covering them up.

As strong believer in quality civic life, I would like to ensure that these drains after being covered are converted into green zones. Interestingly, for those who may not know, some of the drains were once canals or tributaries of rivers which over the decades got converted into channels for sewage as the population in the city expanded. In other parts of the city, Honourable Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has even backed schemes for covering drains and using them as roads for traffic. All said and done, there is a crying need to address the problems of people living near the drains and as such no modern city can pat its back over its urban infrastructure unless such drains are kept covered.

  3. Misraji,

You are in public service so long and you know the issues of west and south west delhi. Your party is in power in state as well as Centre. Why have you not taken up the development of Dwarka infrastructure, transport, water, roads till date? Why should we give you more opportunities?

  4. Mishraji,
Now you got the power to change the things.I have great hope from you that you will change the west delhi in the upcoming years. You know the problems of west delhi very well.
As you have mentioned "Drain is a pain".So in this regard I feel that one drain that needs immediate attention is the drain coming from Sagarpur to Uttam Nagar. Some portion of it is already covered by MCD for construction of Dabri-Pankha Road Flyover. If you can take initiative to cover the remaining portion of that drain till Uttam Nagar and beyond that, then it will be a huge relief for the peoples living nearby that drain. We can also use the covered drain as roads for traffic.
It is requested to please look into the matter and take appropriate action.
Hoping for a positive reposne and action.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Common Man

I, Preeti Panwar, would like to draw your kind attention towards the area of Nasirpur, Durga Park.

The biggest problem here is that there is a big pool where residents throw garbage on the road, thus making it very difficult even to walk besides it. It stinks badly and the condition of road is patheic.During rains, it becomes the worst as there is no space to walk. People have to take lifts in order to cross the road which is full of rainy water till knee length. It becomes like a dirty pond. Pigs, cows and mosquitoes make the whole area vulnerable to diseases.

Also, there are illegal meat shops on the entrance in the area of Durga Park. There is an open drain which causes a lot of inconvenience to the residents.

So far, no action has been taken by DDA.
I, kindly request you to take an immediate action against this menace.

    Thanks and Regards
    Preeti Panwar
